BigCamp is a wonderful private camp that you will enjoy and won't want to leave; from coffee on the deck during quiet mornings to falling asleep to the sound of loons swimming the lake and calling to one another in the evening. We have enjoyed this lakefront cabin for over fifty years, and rent the cabin during weeks while we are not there. It is 22 minutes (11 miles) to Bar Harbor and 19 minutes (9.5 miles) to Acadia National Park where you can bike or hike the 100 miles of carriage trails.

Bigcamp feels more like a rustic lodge than a cabin and is surrounded by beautiful pines which create a bed of pine needles on this lakefront private property on Great Long Pond. A spacious deck with teak chairs and tables faces the lake. The large great room is MAJESTIC with its pine cathedral ceilings, walls, and floors, floor to ceiling fireplace, and 4 very large (4.5’ x 10’) windows for a GORGEOUS PANORAMIC view of water and mountains. The kitchen is well stocked including a large pot to cook fresh lobster and there is a gas grill on the back patio.

A newly remodeled spacious bathroom boasts a beautiful walk in shower, and includes a linen closet well stocked with towels and bedsheets.

The lake is nearly 4 miles long and feels soothing to your skin when swimming in its clean, velvety, spring fed water from the surrounding mountains. At the end of the lake you can rent kayaks and canoes or launch your small motorboat or sailboat.

We always say, it just doesn’t get any better than this! We are truly fortunate to enjoy this BEAUTIFUL piece of earth!

Summary: Enjoyed waking up to the wonderful views every morning. The boat deck chairs beckoned us to sit for a cup of coffee/tea as we lounged in the beginning of each day. This is a lovely olde camp, tastefully decorated and laid out. I loved the brass lamps, and the quality bedding. We were lucky to have shared the dock with a flock of friendly ducks one evening, and we even spotted the elusive loons in the distance. We enjoyed hearing the loons almost every evening, which brought about great memories of days past. The shower was nice & hot once it warmed up., and the towels were ample. There appeared to be an issue with the kitchen sink, as it was backing up whilst rinsing out our Gin & Tonic glasses, but thankfully the toilet flushed without issue. Apparently I did not pay close enough attention as to the lack of a washer & dryer, but all in all the view & serenity of the cabin would have us coming back for more. We have already referred this listing to another....
