Vermont Cabin - Ski, Hike, Kayak, Leaf Peep - 5mins to Okemo, near quaint towns | Cabin in Ludlow
2 Bedroom Cabin in Ludlow
Our home is the perfect getaway, just a 5 minute drive to Okemo Mountain. This 1800s home, has one bedroom on the first floor that overlooks a babbling brook in our back yard. A wall of windows makes you feel like you are sleeping in the woods, but you are only a mile away from the town of Ludlow. Large driveway (that is plowed during large snowfall) plus two extra parking spaces with easy in and out access when snows. The house is on a street that is also plowed - so no worries about getting to the mountain quickly and missing the good snow!
The downstairs is simple living with a kitchen and living room, bedroom and bathroom. There is a pellet stove to keep you warm, and a 65 inch tv hanging above it. Lots of games in the trunk if you'd rather some old fashioned fun. There is also a mini split for heat or air conditioning.
The upstairs is a loft area with two twin beds, a full bed, and a blow up mattress. (The loft overlooks the living room so it is not a good space for very small children. However you could put a pack and play in the bedroom.)
The property is on a quiet, dead end street with friendly neighbors. You can walk just a short way up the street and you're at an open area that is perfect for snow shoeing, or taking a nice long walk through the woods. Some people cross country ski a bit there too. (We have two adult pair of snow shoes you are welcome to use.)
There are plenty of other areas to walk or hike - that are a short distance by car.
The ski mountain of Okemo has activities all year long - concerts, an adventure zone, festivals as well as leaf peeping in the fall with an easy chair lift ride up the mountain. There is also mountain biking on the off-ski season as well.
The town of Ludlow has plenty of restaurants, outdoors stores, gift shops, etc. It's a small town, but has everything you need.
Plymouth State Park / Echo Lake is nearby for kayaking, paddle boarding or lounging by the water or take a ride to learn how maple syrup is made. Drive to Weston, the next town over, to check out the Vermont Country Store and see a show at the playhouse. Manchester is about 40 minutes which has lots of outlet shopping, an Orvis Outlet and an amazing independent bookstore. Woodstock is about 45 minutes away - very quaint, idyllic Vermont town.
The house is simple - so if you are looking for a tricked out house with all the amenities, this is not for you:) If you like the feeling of a rustic cabin, then this is up your ally.
The bathroom has a claw foot type tub/shower that you have to step in and out of. It is higher than a modern tub so not ideal for anyone unsteady on their feet or elderly.
As a family we have enjoyed numerous ski weekends and getaways during other seasons - but we understand the simplicity of our cabin will work for some people and not others and want to be fully transparent, as we want anyone who stays to love the charm and idiosyncrasies of the house and above all truly have a wonderful time!
We are happy to answer any questions you may have to decide if this is a good fit for you!
